NAAAP Toronto and its members extend our deepest sympathies and hopes for recovery to those affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Many of our members have relatives, friends, and co-workers who live in or travel to Japan, and this tragedy has had a profound impact on all individuals associated with the Asian community.
We encourage every NAAAP member and the general public to support relief efforts with an online donation to the NAAAP Fund for Japan Relief. Our fundraising will run until April 30, 2011. NAAAP Toronto (for Canadian donors) is collaborating with and will direct all donations to World Vision Canada (
www.worldvision.ca). Donors will receive a charitable tax receipt from World Vision Canada. American donors, please visit;
www.naaap.org Thank you for your generosity and prayers.
About World Vision CanadaWorld Vision began in China with an American missionary named Dr. Bob Pierce and Canada has been part of the World Vision family since its early days. In 1950, Pierce held the first meetings in Canada to discuss what he had seen and learned in Asia. In 1957, Canada's first World Vision office opened in Toronto. Today the national headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario-overseen by president Dave Toycen¬is one of World Vision’s busiest offices.
World Vision is Canada's largest private relief and development agency. Canadians today sponsor over half a million children around the world. Child sponsorship helps fund World Vision Canada’s international long-term development projects. World Vision Canada has a long history of partnering with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and other government bodies in overseas development and in addressing global issues, such as child rights, hunger and health.
